CRITICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Strategy development and execution: Within own remit, articulate vision, set strategy, and enable team members to understand business needs to develop recruiting tactics that yield strong talent outcomes. Manage long-term goals and lead recruiters in development.
  • Influence stakeholders and candidates: Possesses solid credibility with hiring managers through successful placements, expertise of the labor market, talent segments and knowledge of Abbott divisions and business dynamics. Influence hiring managers with content and knowledge. Use strong active listening skills to understand and articulate the hiring managers’ needs in a concise manner. Within own area of expertise, constructively assert opinions and ideas with clients and peers. Leverage market insights and data to support recommendations.
  • Endurance and resilience: Proactively problem solve through setbacks and obstacles to reach hiring goals.
  • Leadership: Make informed decisions, motivate and be a role model to peers and team members. Manage team and individual performance in a timely manner. Drive team towards high performance. Spend 30-40% of time on people management activities. Strong competitive drive to overachieve targets and like to be challenged to improve overall team and personal outcomes. Self-starter and ability to self-motivate.
  • Change management: Lead change projects within own remit and participate in broader change management projects at area and division level. Elevate Talent Acquisition’s capabilities through innovation via model, process, people, and technology (MPPT).
  • Data management, analysis and insights, storytelling: Have excellent command of reporting and presenting data using Abbott systems and MS suite to influence clients. Leverage data to drive team performance to reach goals. Guide and develop the team’s insight and story-telling capabilities.
  • Project management: Initiate and lead multi-country and cross-divisional TA projects. Lead regional and global projects.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Minimum professional experience: 8+ years of core TA experience with a min 3 years of in-house TA experience in a matrix environment. 2+ years of people manager experience.
  • Functional experience: Full cycle recruitment experience in healthcare or adjacent industries and across main functions: commercial, manufacturing, scientific, and corporate function.
  • Experience of supporting hiring needs at director up to DVP level across multiple functions, divisions, or business units.
  • Subject matter expert in developing marketing campaigns and direct sourcing strategies to engage, attract, and nurture passive candidates.
  • Team leadership experience over individual contributors and ideally over managers acquired in a matrix and global environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to a team of TA managers and/or professionals to ensure Abbott attracts high-calibre talent to meet business needs. Foster a continuous learning environment that champions a diverse and equitable culture.
  • Establish the most effective recruitment processes and selection practices. Execute with high quality hiring standards to meet diversity goals and provide exceptional candidate experiences.
  • Support and lead project work by driving and executing against key expansion plans or functional projects.
  • Act as a partner relationship manager for strategic academic institutions such as universities, high schools, trade schools, and diversity organizations to align with our global early career and diversity recruiting offices.
  • Own and manage the relationship with internal clients at director, GM, and occasionally up to DVP level.
  • Deliver full cycle recruiting efforts for the difficult to hire positions. May use the additional support of a sourcing specialist or a contingency search partner as required.
  • Use cost-effective recruiting channels, implement direct sourcing initiatives, and create innovative campaigns to attract the best talent.
