The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a motivated Tax Accountant to join the Finance Team of a European Head office of a multinational company based in Cork. You will work closely with Financial accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable Treasury, Logistics, FP&A Analysts and Legal Teams of Trend Micro in Europe.

The Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, data collation and submission of VAT returns for numerous European entities.
  • Preparation, data collation and submission of various statistical returns (VIES, Intrastat, CSO and misc. statistical returns as required).
  • Reconciliation of VAT accounts in the balance sheet for all European entities.
  • Preparation and review of quarterly VAT provisions and tax reports for financial reporting purposes.
  • Following up with 3rd party vendors to ensure valid VAT invoices are on hand to support all VAT returns.
  • Liaise with external advisors on VAT matters and stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations, implementing necessary processes within the businesses to maintain compliance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on various business initiatives and transactions.
  • Rolling out VAT specific training to internal teams and review of tasks.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand the impact of various business initiatives and transactions on VAT compliance. Supporting the wider organisation in answering ad hoc VAT related queries.
  • Assistance with managing tax queries, reviews and audits, including liaising with external service providers and tax inspectors.
  • Preparation and filing of 8th Directive claims for refund of VAT across several entities.
  • Identify and introduce process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develop relationships with internal stakeholders and deal with external advisors, local tax authorities and other third parties.
  • Occasional assistance with preparation of company’s transfer pricing documentation and branch returns.

You Are:

  • Ability to follow through & complete tasks and to support others in completing tasks within regular recurring deadlines
  • Ability to research issues independently and present and communicate findings in a clear manner.
  • Deadline focused.
  • Motivated with excellent time management skills.
  • Self starter who takes initiative, can work without supervision and tasks projects independently.

  • A good written and verbal communicator and are fluent in written and spoken English.

You Have:

  • Tax qualification.
  • Hands-on experience with VAT.
  • Superb attention to detail and willingness to take responsibility.
  • An accounting qualification is also highly advantageous.
  • Experience in Corporation Tax & Withholding Tax is also beneficial.
