POSITION SUMMARY:

The Tax Analyst will assist with preparation and filing of Canadian and US Sales and Excise tax returns. They will participate in tax research, audits, and other department projects. This is a full-time position with option for Hybrid work upon completion of requisite training.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum of 3 years of accounting and/or tax experience
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Excise / Sales Tax experience - a plus
University/College Business Degree/Diploma with emphasis in Accounting or Tax- a plus
Accounting Designation - CPA (US or Canada) - a plus
Experience with SAP (or similar ERP systems) and an aptitude to learn new software

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file U.S. and Canadian Sales and Excise tax returns
  • Prepare and file US property tax returns
  • Prepare tax working papers and reconciliations and investigate discrepancies
  • Provide tax and audit support to Core-Mark’s warehouses in the US and Canada
  • Prepare and submit tax payment requests
  • Conduct tax research as required, prepare appropriate documentation
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with warehouse and corporate personnel
  • Proactively seek opportunities for process improvement, data management opportunities and other efficiencies
  • Participate in Tax Department projects, as assignedPotential for travel - within Canada and US
