We’re seeking a Tax Manager to join our Finance team. This critical role supports our planned business expansion, working with an international tax team across Europe and the US. WHAT YOU’LL DO:
In your role, you’ll collaborate with different people across a range of skillsets. Here’s a flavour of your day-to-day:
- Tax Compliance and Reporting: As the Tax Manager, your primary responsibility will be to ensure tax compliance and accurate reporting across several jurisdictions where Primark operates. You’ll navigate the complexities of tax regulations, staying up to date with changes and ensuring that the company adheres to all requirements. This involves meticulous record-keeping, timely submissions, and collaboration with internal teams to gather relevant data.
- Collaboration and Relationship Building: Building strong relationships is essential. You’ll work across diverse teams, both within and outside the finance function. Collaborating with colleagues from different countries and functions, you’ll align tax strategies with broader business objectives. Effective communication and teamwork will be critical as you drive business outcomes together.
- Subject Matter Expertise: As the go-to tax expert, you’ll participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives. Your insights will shape decision-making processes, ensuring that tax considerations are integrated seamlessly. Whether it’s advising on new business practices or evaluating the tax implications of strategic moves, your expertise will be invaluable.
- External Engagement and Reputation Management: You’ll engage with external advisors and manage budgets related to tax matters. Building positive relationships with tax authorities and advisors in each jurisdiction is crucial. By maintaining Primark’s good reputation, you’ll facilitate smoother interactions and contribute to the company’s overall success.
- Continuous Improvement and Process Efficiency: A culture of continuous improvement is part of Primark’s DNA. In your role, you’ll identify opportunities to enhance processes, streamline workflows, and leverage technology. Whether it’s automating routine tasks or optimizing tax-related procedures, your focus on efficiency will benefit the entire organization.
- Stakeholder Influence and Development: As a Tax Manager, you’ll advise senior stakeholders on the commercial impact of tax law changes. Your ability to translate complex tax concepts into practical insights will be essential. Additionally, you’ll contribute to the development of the wider tax team through coaching, training, and sharing best practices.

- Minimum 2 years’ PQE in Tax: The ideal candidate should have at least two years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in tax-related roles. This experience ensures familiarity with tax laws, regulations, and practices.
- Proven experience in Accounting and Tax: The candidate must demonstrate a track record of working in both accounting and tax functions. This experience indicates proficiency in financial reporting, compliance, and tax planning.
- Industry experience working with multi-jurisdictions: The candidate’s exposure to multiple jurisdictions is advantageous. It suggests familiarity with international tax laws, cross-border transactions, and global business operations.
- Ability to manage sensitive matters while maintaining confidentiality: The candidate should handle confidential information related to Primark’s business. Balancing transparency with discretion is crucial.
- Strong organizational skills and deadline management: The candidate must effectively prioritize projects and deliverables. Meeting deadlines set by management is essential for successful performance
