We are seeking a tax staff accountant with a proven track record in tax preparation and the following skills and qualifications:

Educational Background:

  • A degree in taxation or accounting is mandatory to ensure a strong foundation in tax principles and regulations.

Tax Preparation Expertise:

  • A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in tax preparation, demonstrating a deep understanding of tax codes and compliance requirements.
  • Proficiency in using tax preparation software such as UltraTax or similar platforms, along with experience in task management applications.

Effective Communication:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with clients, colleagues, and regulatory authorities clearly and professionally.
  • Professional English communication skills

Time Management and Prioritization:

  • Ability to efficiently manage time, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced tax environment.

Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Strong analytical skills to assess complex financial data, identify tax-saving opportunities, and resolve tax-related challenges effectively.

Accounting Acumen:

  • Excellent accounting skills to comprehend financial records, income statements, and related documents accurately.

Customer Service Orientation:

  • Exceptional customer service skills to build and maintain positive client relationships, offering assistance, guidance, and support throughout the tax preparation process.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE):

  • Meet all required Continuing Professional Education obligations each year to stay current with industry developments and maintain professional certifications

Responsibilities:

ROLE EXPECTATIONS

As a Tax Staff Accountant at our organization, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accurate and timely preparation of tax returns while providing exceptional service to our clients. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tax-related tasks, including compliance, research, and client interaction. To excel in this role, you are expected to meet the following key expectations:

Ensure Regulatory Compliance:

  • Diligently work to ensure that clients comply with IRS regulations and meet all state and federal tax obligations.
  • Stay informed about the latest changes in tax laws and regulations and apply this knowledge to client engagements.

Tax Return Preparation:

  • Prepare tax returns for clients of various sizes, ranging from small businesses with revenues as low as $0 to those with revenues up to $4 million.
  • Proficiently prepare various tax forms, including but not limited to Forms 1040, 1120S, 1120, and 1065.

Tax Liability Minimization:

  • Analyze financial data, income statements, and expenditures to identify opportunities for minimizing tax liabilities.
  • Implement effective tax reduction strategies in line with the client’s financial goals.

Record Keeping and Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records to ensure smooth and efficient tax preparation processes.
  • Document all tax-related information comprehensively and securely.

Client Interaction and Support:

  • Interact professionally with clients, addressing their inquiries and providing guidance on tax matters.
  • Offer assistance to clients in understanding general tax implications and exploring marketing and branding opportunities.

Local and State Tax Compliance:

  • Assist clients in meeting local and state licensing requirements, ensuring compliance with applicable tax codes.
  • Navigate the specific tax and regulatory landscape related to cannabis, where applicable.

Technical Tax Reviews:

  • Conduct thorough technical reviews of tax returns to ensure accuracy and compliance with tax laws.
  • Obtain necessary approvals for tax returns and maintain quality standards.

Continuing Professional Education (CPE):

  • Meet all required Continuing Professional Education obligations each year to stay current with industry developments and maintain professional certifications.
