Job Classification: Adjunct Faculty - Teaching (Day or Evening classes)

- Required Degree: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Degree must be in elementary education or early childhood education, or similar, from an accredited university.
The required degree must be completed by the start date.
Experience:
- Certification/Licensure (El Ed)
- Extensive K-6 public school teaching experience (minimum 4 years)
- Demonstrated success teaching and mentoring preservice teachers in field settings
- History of positive collaboration with community, school, and university personnel
- Evidence of exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of current literature, trends, and issues in teacher education
- Understanding of and commitment to the BYU/Public School Partnership vision and commitments
- Preference will be given to candidates who have previously served as a Clinical Faculty Associate, facilitator, and/or principal at a partnership school in the partnering school district (Alpine).
Duties/Expectations:
The assistant liaison supports the liaison in the oversight of various clinical aspects of the Elementary Education program in the assigned partnership district (Alpine). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in the selection, training, support, and supervision of Clinical Faculty Associates.
- Help administer and oversee completion of performance-based assessments for teacher candidates in collaboration with other university faculty, including the input of information to various BYU systems.
- Participate in the work of organizing and facilitating high-quality field placements for teacher candidates.
- Provide support in university courses taught by the liaison, including attending each class session.
- Help organize and conduct practical seminars for teacher candidates (interns, student teachers, practicum students).
- Conduct school visits and observations - schools located in Alpine school district (Orem, Am Fork, Lehi, Saratoga Springs areas). Vehicle required (mileage reimbursed).
- Provide support and remediation for students not meeting standards.
- Assist in planning and carrying out various partnership-related meetings with various groups such as partnership principals, facilitators, mentor teachers, and students.
- Complete tasks as assigned by the liaison and/or in conjunction with the needs of the liaison group.
- Additionally, the assistant liaison should expect to attend various university-related meetings including, but not limited to, BYU University Conference Week, EEPAC, department faculty meetings, liaison meetings, district team meetings, graduation, etc. The assistant liaison must model and demonstrate high levels of professionalism, and actively support and advocate for the mission and aims of BYU.
Successful candidate will be expected to teach in-person classes on the BYU/Provo campus, Provo, UT.
