Job Introduction
Do you want to make a difference to the lives of children recently arrived in the UK by assessing their education needs and delivering high quality teaching with all that involves.
The purpose of this role is to assess, monitor and teach students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) who are Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). You will safeguard and promote the welfare of these children. In partnership with carers schools and colleges you will assess and monitor each individual to identify suitable educational targets, support and teaching strategies. This will involve you preparing and teaching high quality lessons, monitoring progress, helping with transitions and working with Bilingual Support Officer colleagues to provide a welcoming and supportive environment to support the wellbeing and progression of children and young people.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WHO WILL:
Liaise with services and outside agencies across the county to provide educational provision and support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking children (UASC).
Support schools, colleges, and carers in addressing the educational needs of UASC in order to raise awareness and promote inclusive practices.
Alongside other services, be accountable for the teaching provision for UASC and liaise with a team of tutors/teachers focusing on that area.
Develop strategies and plans for supporting students which identify clear targets, timescales and success criteria for their development.
Work alongside the EALS Co-ordinator, Service Manager and the Head of the Virtual School to maintain, monitor and review the demands, needs and provision for UASC in line with service and local authority expectation.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
