QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Colorado teaching license, teaching or counselor license preferred.
  • Additional endorsement in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education preferred, *or willingness to pursue endorsement or equivalent coursework. *
  • Master of Arts degree or equivalent is preferred.
  • At least three years of effective teaching or counseling experience, including social emotional learning, experience with middle school students preferred.
  • Experience with English language learners.
  • Spanish language proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a vision and implementation plan for social emotional learning, collaboratively with school leadership and staff, both within Crew and across the school day.
  • Develop rigorous and relevant lesson plans, which ensure instruction is connected to standards, differentiated to support learning, engages all students in authentic and productive learning, and ensures smooth classroom management. A daily class with a social emotional focus will be taught to students in 7th and 8th grades, in addition to instructing classes of PK-6 students.
  • Provide individualized support, coaching, instruction, outlets, and avenues for students experiencing social/emotional/behavioral responses for the purpose of reducing stress and encouraging positive expression.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to social emotional learning.
  • Provide opportunities for professional development and training for the school-based team.
  • Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with all school stakeholders.
  • Build positive relationships with students from ages 3 to 15 and their families.
  • Contribute to a positive, student-centered school culture.
