BAND TEACHER POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Band Teacher Reports To: Designated Principal
Position: Full Time
SUMMARY STATEMENT:
The Band Teacher will;
Teach Beginner Band (grade 6), Middle School Band (grades 7-8), & Advanced Bands (grades 9-12).
Support band students in achieving a higher level of personal skill while gaining an enhanced appreciation
for band music and increasing levels of self-confidence through rehearsals and performances.
Develop student musicians to perform at Christmas concert, spring concert and at other times throughout
the year, as required
POSITION REQUIREMENTS OR STANDARDS
The teacher will be a college graduate.
The teacher will have made a profession of Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
The teacher will faithfully attend a local church whose beliefs are in agreement with the Statement of Faith
of Calvary Day School.
The teacher will affirm the CDS Statement of Faith and the ACSI Statement of Faith and abide by the Code
of Professional Conduct, CDS Lifestyle Statement and Christian Commitment Statement.
The teacher will exhibit competence in conducting.

Responsibilities:
PRINCIPAL DUTIES
Spiritual
The teacher will seek to be a role model in attitude, speech and actions with a consistent daily walk with
Jesus Christ.
The teacher will follow the Matthew 18 principle in dealing with students, parents, staff, and
administration.
The teacher will lead students to a realization of their confidence in Christ.
General Guidelines for Calvary Day School Teachers
The teacher is responsible for the planning, execution and followup materials and activities, according to
the particular curriculum on which he/she will be working.
The teacher is responsible for discipline and orderliness in the classroom.
The teacher is expected to support all policies of Calvary Day School.
The teacher will integrate biblical principles in lesson units.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The teacher is to arrive at school 30 minutes prior to the beginning of /the school day and remain 30
minutes after the school day ends.
The teacher is to maintain an accurate record of daily attendance.
The teacher is to keep receipts and submit for money spent.
Lesson plans will be written and submitted to the department chair by Sunday night.
The teacher will take inventory of supplies periodically, determine needed items in advance, and then give
the list to the appropriate administrative assistant for purchasing.
The teacher is to record current grades.
The teacher will use homework effectively.
The teacher is to maintain a neat, orderly classroom.
When illness occurs, the teacher should follow the directions given during orientation for securing a
substitute.
