UCL Mechanical Engineering has been pioneering the development of engineering education, having taught the core discipline for over 165 years. UCL was home to the UK’s first ever Professor of the Mechanical Principles of Engineering, Eaton Hodgkinson, in 1847. It was also where Sir Alexander Blackie William Kennedy introduced organized laboratory practicals in university education training; a world-leading educational innovation at the time.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are recruiting for three Teaching and Learning Administrator positions. Please indicate in your application if you have a preference for a particular role:
1. Teaching and Learning Administrator
The postholder will provide specialist administration for student casework (extenuating circumstances and academic integrity), short courses (Submarine Design Course and Marine Technology Education Consortium), Affiliate, Year in Industry and Year Abroad programmes, and quality assurance (support for external examiners).
2. Teaching and Learning Administrator (Postgraduate Taught)
The postholder will provide specialist administration for the department’s MSc programmes as a member of our postgraduate taught programmes team. The role supports all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of MSc students from enquiry to completion, with a particular focus on examinations and assessment, student enquiries, and the student experience.
3. Teaching and Learning Administrator (Undergraduate & Postgraduate Research)
The postholder will provide specialist administration for the department’s community of 150 PhD students, working alongside the Senior Teaching & Learning Administrator (Postgraduate Research) to embed a high quality service for the programme activities of doctoral students. Duties will also include support for the running of our undergraduate programmes as part of our larger undergraduate programmes team.
Under the direction of the Teaching and Learning Manager and Senior Teaching and Learning Administrator and in conjunction with relevant academic staff, the appointees will provide specialist administration to the designated teaching programmes, ensuring effective procedures are documented and adopted for dealing with all aspects of its administration. These posts will assist in achieving a high quality and timely service to current and prospective students, and staff relating to the designated courses/programmes and beyond.
The appointees will provide support for all matters relating to the teaching and learning activities of students from enquiry to completion, incorporating supporting committees and processes relating to assessment, student and course records.
