Reporting directly to the Director Operational Excellence, the Team Lead Continuous Improvement will act both as an expert in continuous improvement within his/her region, and as a leader for a small team of Continuous Improvement Specialists.
This role will work with and influence our operations teams to address operational issues, meet our performance standards and challenge the status quo by defining and implementing new processes, tools, layouts, and equipment.
We see this role as a center piece of our ability to build an industry leading operational team.
What You Will Do

Management:

  • Coach, support and lead a small team of Continuous Improvement Specialists.
  • Ensure stations are audited and manage the audit result process with the operations leadership.
  • Help create and maintain a culture of continuous improvement within the team and inside all delivery stations.
  • Continuously work on skilling up the team in regards to methods, equipment and best practices.
  • Follow up on regional priorities regarding delivery station improvements.
  • Analyse station performance to highlight opportunities for improvement.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Support and audit regional delivery stations to ensure they meet Intelcom’s standards in regards to productivity, cost, quality, speed and health and safety.
  • Help define and implement operational standards, such as material handling processes, processing methods, layouts and equipment.
  • Identify areas with opportunities for improvement, justify changes and implement.
  • Work with various departments, namely Sales, IT, Product Development, and OPS Support to create new processes.
  • Assume a consulting role with our operations teams.
  • Plan and track timelines for projects and initiatives.
  • Build reports to define progress, issues and solutions of various projects.
  • Visit delivery stations and sortation hubs frequently to ensure comprehension of the operations and get buy in from operations team on key initiatives.

What You Bring To The Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial or mechanical engineering, operations management, or related field.
  • Graduate degree in engineering, project management or operations management is an asset.
  • 7+ years in operations, experience in the transportation industry is desired.
  • 3+ years in a role related to operational excellence, engineering, or performance improvement.
  • High proficiency in Excel.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD is required, simulation software is an asset.
  • Detail oriented, data driven and strong ability to keep people accountable.
