Description:

This post is an exciting opportunity to join the Inpatient Rehabilitation Team at St Pancras Rehabilitation Unit.
You will be responsible for a providing specialist Neurological rehabilitation. You will work closely with the other band 7 AHP staff ( e.g. Neuro Physiotherapy Pathway Coordinator, General Rehabilitation Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and the wider Integrated Multidisciplinary Team.)
The inpatient multi-pathology and Neurological rehabilitation unit has 53 beds. The unit has strong links with community partners and the NCL Intermediate Care bed base.
The MDT and Occupational Therapy team embrace innovative evidence based practice. As a service we work in partnership with patients and their families /carers and encourage self – management activities at all stages in the patient journey. You will benefit from the experience and support offered by this highly integrated service. You will support and deliver intensive rehabilitation to patients with both Level 2 (6 beds) and Level 3 (17 beds) Neurological rehabilitation need. We can offer opportunities to participate in clinical research projects and service development.
The unit has established training programmes in place and there are frequently opportunities for all staff to develop knowledge and skills within their role
We are looking for a highly skilled Specialist Inpatient Occupational Therapist with extensive and varied experience working in Neurological rehabilitation.
A genuine interest in continuing to develop skills and experience in this field is essential for the role. You must be able to work flexibly according to service needs and have excellent organisational, time management and communication skills. The team is based at St. Rehabilitation Unit, situated close to the amenities and transport links of Kings Cross and Camden.

You will use evidence based principles/current best practise and specialist skills to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and to ensure that all members of your team do so accordingly.
As the lead Occupational Therapists within the team, you will provide excellent supervision and guidance, to junior OT’s to deliver evidence based rehabilitation. You will manage your own caseload, providing individual occupational Therapy assessments to patients in their own homes. You will lead on manual handling, pressure care and equipment needs within the team and support the team lead with Datix investigations, and development audits. You will deputise for the Therapy lead in your locality as appropriate.
