Description:

The Renal Rehabilitation and Exercise Team consists of a specialist team of renal therapists, exercise instructors, as well as a large team of researchers. We are looking to recruit an innovative and enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join us for this Band 7 secondment opportunity.
This position offers an excellent opportunity to work closely with a highly experienced renal consultant, as well as specialist physiotherapists and researchers within a friendly environment. The role will require some cross-site working between Denmark Hill and Tessa Jowell Health Centre.
Working within the Renal Rehabilitation and Exercise Team is a fantastic opportunity to work in a highly innovative and forward thinking team. The role will involve working clinically, gaining exposure to clinical research, as well as developing managerial skills. Protected professional development time will be included. The post holder will work with a predominantly outpatient based caseload, with individuals living with Chronic Kidney Disease. This will involve:
Renal Rehabilitation
Multi-Disciplinary Renal Weight Management Clinic
Renal Post Transplant Clinic
A virtual wellbeing platform- ‘Kidney Beam’ (more information: https://beamfeelgood.com/home )
Involvement and exposure to clinical research
You will be required to supervise and act as a role model for more junior members of the team and students when required.
This post will provide a fantastic opportunity to learn, advance and utilize your management and service development skills to help facilitate exercise and physical activity interventions within the renal population.

To be responsible for the efficient, effective and safe management of all patients referred to their section.
To receive referrals, undertake full assessment and independently plan individual, specialized, evidence-based, treatment programmes for patients appropriately depending on the physiotherapist’s diagnosis, using clinical reasoning and a variety of highly specialist skills such as use of exercise prescription and communication techniques such as motivational interviewing.
To carry a significant clinical caseload including complex and diverse patient groups such as those with Chronic Renal failure in an out-patient setting.
To prioritise work efficiently taking into account clinical and service priorities using highly specialist knowledge to underpin decisions.
To be able to persuade and motivate patients through effective communication skills.
Provide patients, families and other carers with specialist advice or instruction to promote the understanding of the aims of physiotherapy and to ensure consistent patient management.
To provide and receive information from patients, carers and other professionals regarding a patients condition and treatment progress. This will include the sharing and receiving of some complex and/or sensitive information.
To contribute to the formulation of departmental policies and procedures and participate in agreed developments in the physiotherapy service or its organisation.
To initiate and implement changes to working practices related to research findings or service initiatives e.g. following demand and capacity work including evaluation of such changes.
To undertake clinical audit, report on findings and after discussion with the clinical lead, implement changes and re-audit
