Description:
You will jointly lead the respiratory team in the assessment and treatment of acute respiratory patients on both critical care and the acute wards. Your role will also be to jointly lead the induction and support with the training of new graduates to ensure their competence in supporting the weekday and weekend on-call respiratory rota. Access to the simulation suite may provide an innovative way of supporting with training. You will need the skills to assess and interpret clinical conditions, have an awareness of current professional and research practice issues and be willing to participate in national and local audits. You will also support with the post ITU critical care follow-up service.
Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills are essential as well as excellent organisational and time management skills.
You will need to show your commitment, enthusiasm and drive to develop your own clinical, managerial and team working skills within the service. You must be able to communicate effectively at all levels, work autonomously and be able to demonstrate effective teamwork. You will be supported through regular meetings, 1:1 sessions and ongoing education and development.
To undertake highly specialist clinical physiotherapy assessments and treatments appropriate to Band 7 grade including work requiring particular expertise or ability.
To be jointly responsible with the Team Lead Physiotherapists for the Acute and High Dependency Respiratory Service (AHDRS) and the Team Lead Physiotherapists for the Acute Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Team (APRT) for the delivery of the Acute and High Dependency Therapy Service (AHDTS).
To be responsible for the delivery of acute respiratory services and ensure the management of patients along rehabilitation pathways is efficient and clinically effective in collaboration with the Team Lead for APRT.
To provide appropriate training to staff on the on-call rota, and updates as required. To co-ordinate the on-call rota ensuring that there is cover on every day.
To fully integrate within the wider network of therapy Services, working in collaboration with other Team Leads to ensure there is consistency and assurance across the services within East Sussex
To work with the Service Manager for In-Patient Acute Therapy Services to continually review, develop and refine pathways of care facilitating the delivery of a robust, innovative and expert service.
To support the Physiotherapy Professional Leads with the development of professional standards associated with Physiotherapy
