Are you looking for an opportunity to lead a team and influence the future provision of dietetic services within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust? An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader Dietitian to work on the City campus at NUH. The successful candidate will have an operational leadership role in the provision and development of dietetic services and staff , whilst managing a clinical specialist workload and leading a team which provides inpatients and outpatient services at the City campus. The team consists of clinical lead dietitians, specialist dietitians, and rotational band 5’s and a responsibility for student training.
There may be some flexibility with regards to the clinical caseload depending on the applicant and service requirement.
You will be responsible for a clinical caseload at City campus as well as providing operational daily support and guidance to other members of the team working within Oncology, Haematology, Head and Neck, Health care of the elderly and respiratory. You will have responsibility for providing leadership for the team to ensure effective and efficient service delivery, promote staff development, as well as providing expert knowledge and support for dietetic colleagues and for the management team.

The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH. We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff, who works together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists. We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced dietitian with relevant clinical experience, leadership skills, excellent communication skills and a flexible approach to take forward this part of the dietetic service. You will gain experience in management with the support from other team leaders and dietetic manager. Please refer to the job description attached.

Responsibilities:

To lead the team in the operational management of the therapy service and contribute to the strategic development of the service.
To take responsibility for highly developed clinical reasoning in the advanced assessment and treatment of patients who may have a complex presentation and to determine clinical diagnosis and therapy management.
To monitor the performance of all staff within the team.
To ensure high standards of clinical care within the team, through the training and development of staff.
To evaluate the effectiveness of the service provided and ensure improvements are implemented (in liaison with the Therapy Services Manager).
To be responsible for identifying training needs of yourself and your team in line with Trust and Departmental objectives. To ensure that staff are aware of the need to maintain ongoing competence of all staff undertaking out of hours work where applicable. To provide training and support to cover out of hours work within your area
