Description:
About the Department: The Department of Regional Development, Manufacturing and Water (DRMDW) drives growth for Queensland by managing sustainable water resources, leading innovation in manufacturing, and developing our regions. From our offices in Brisbane and a network of regional offices and manufacturing hubs, more than 700 DRDMW staff work to create a Queensland where communities, businesses and water resources are sustainable and resilient.
The Role: You will be managing a small team to deliver collaborative projects to help ensure reliable drinking water supplies for Queensland communities. You will be lead detailed assessments that use hydrological modelling and analysis of historical conditions to determine future urban water security risks. You will also be supporting water service providers in identifying appropriate solutions to their future urban water security needs.Key Accountabilities: - Strategic and professional leadership to develop and manage an effective work team.- High level and expert policy and planning advice on water supply security issues and trends.- Influence strategic policy direction and develop agreed solutions to complex urban water security and supply issues.- Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and constructive working relationships and networks on across agency projects and initiatives.- Lead and manage complex multidisciplinary water supply security assessments and supply planning investigations and reviews bringing together as necessary engineering, hydrologic, water quality, geotechnical, hydraulic, social, economic, financial, environmental and legal aspects.- Ensure urban water security assessments and solutions comply with statutory water plans for the sustainable management of the State’s water.- Provide water supply infrastructure technical review and administrative support for the provision of funding to urban water service providers.- Represent the department’s vision, values and strategic agenda with clients, stakeholders, external organisations and other State and Commonwealth agencies as required.
About You- The applicant will require a Degree qualification in science or engineering or a related qualification. Being a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland or having qualifications that would enable such a registration would be highly regarded.- Occasional travel may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for a few days collaborating with Councils and the department’s regional offices.- Flexible work location arrangements will be considered for this opportunity to facilitate an adaptive and agile workforce.
