Responsibilities:

LOCATION: ONE ROLE WILL BE BASED IN MANCHESTER/LEEDS AND WILL COVER THESE OFFICES AND ONE ROLE CAN BE BASED IN OUR SOUTHPORT, LIVERPOOL, OR BOLTON OFFICES TO COVER THESE LOCATIONS. THE ROLE WILL BE HYBRID WITH VISITS TO ALL OFFICE LOCATIONS THAT THE ROLE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR.

In the role you will be Leading a team in the Court of Protection & Private Client Department providing Deputyship and Trustee support to clients who have personal injury or clinical negligence claims, and which involve the management of substantial compensation awards. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of your own team of both qualified and non-qualified staff.

Main Responsibilities for the role:

  • Leading a team to maximise its objectives and deliver excellent standards of performance.
  • People management for the team (with input from Heads of Department and Director as appropriate).
  • Ensuring that the legal/technical elements of the case conduct processes are maintained to the highest standards of efficiency, integrity and customer care.
  • Conducting technical file reviews and offering supervisory guidance/instruction.
  • Knowledge sharing with the team by way of supervision, training and case clinics.
  • Work in effective collaboration with other Team Leaders and Heads of Department to ensure standardisation of approach, learning and the smooth transition of cases and team working.
  • Running your own caseload of Deputyship and Trustee matters, both pre and post settlement of the litigation claim whilst supervising a small team of fee earners and providing technical support to the team.
  • Travelling and attending clients at their home, or in hospital or in care/nursing homes
  • Delegate and supervise tasks to junior team members where appropriate
  • Carrying out appraisals and also 1-to-1s on a quarterly basis
  • Holding regular team meetings and training sessions
  • Developing the workflow of the COP proclaim system in collaboration with Technology and other relevant projects
  • To actively engage in business development plans and where appropriate to engage with our sources of work at their places of business (typically in trauma centres)
  • Production of MI and reports to the Director and Heads of Department as and when required.The above list is not exhaustive of all tasks, you will be required to adhere to firm responsibilities.THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
  • A minimum of 4 years PQE in Court of Protection and personal injury trusts work
  • Strong leadership skills, the ability to lead and manage a growing team in line with company budgets and department KPIs.
  • An enthusiasm for team building and raising the internal and external profile of the team.

  • Strong business networking skills
  • Excellent client care skills i.e. the ability to speak to clients in a professional, empathetic and courteous manner
  • Excellent time management i.e. the ability to complete given tasks within an acceptable timescale and to work within any reasonably given deadlines
