EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE AND LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:
- Minimum Education: Associate degree in medical technology, biology, chemistry, or related science preferred.
- Minimum Work Experience: One year experience preferred.
- Certifications: ASCP, AMT, and/or NCA preferred or eligible
- Technicians newly certified as of 2004, are required to participate in a Certification Maintenance Program to continue certification every 3 years. Failure to participate will invalidate certification after the initial 3-year certification period.
- Mathematical, computer, reasoning and language skills at the college level required.

Responsibilities:
Under the general supervision of the Technical Coordinator, the Tech - MLT assumes the responsibility for performing waived and non-waived complexity analysis of patient specimens for diagnostic purposes, and related procedures in the areas of assigned responsibility under the philosophy, policies and procedures established by the hospital and the department. Such responsibilities encompass not only the internal functioning of the Department of Clinical Laboratory Services, but also the integration of the Department into the overall functioning of Northwest Texas Healthcare System. The Tech - MLT supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups.
