The base hourly rate for this position is $20.34
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This is a production position working toward complete training to meet production goals and production efficiency. The essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Learn how to transfer perlite from warehouse to silo using a front end loader and dump truck.
  • Run daily test on material as required for quality control.
  • Maintain hourly logs for temperature, air flow readings on silos and level of product in silos.
  • Hourly inspection of Expander, including but not limited to feed belt, expander tubes, gauges, screws,…
  • Perform as required Feed rate test (Feed Belt)
  • Perform as required Expander feed rate test (Expander Pipes – Bucket test)
  • Perform daily visual emissions.
  • Daily inspection of forklifts
  • Operate Forklift
  • Communicate with Maintenance department / Production Superintendent when upset conditions occur. Training for machinery will be provided by JM.
  • Participates in continuous improvement efforts at the Expansion department using tools/training provided by JM (5S, Lean, etc.).
  • Always use safe work practices, follows all safety rules and procedures, immediately reports any hazardous conditions, and fully participates in safety programs.
  • Perform safety observations and complete training assignments.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following; protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask or respirator.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

Education and/or Experience and Skills

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or up to one months related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Work Environment
This job is in an industrial, manufacturing environment. The job requires working frequently around and with heavy machinery with moving mechanical parts, industrial ovens, and mobile equipment. The environment is not climate controlled, and employees must be able to work in environments that may be extremely hot and humid or cold depending upon the operation and the season. Walking surfaces can be wet, dusty, and uneven. Areas of the building where work must be done have high noise levels, vibration, and/or fumes. Some working areas contain the presence of airborne particles which can irritate the skin or eyes. Employees are required to wear personal protective equipment which includes steel toed shoes, ear protection, eye protection and in certain areas may be required to wear dust masks, gloves, respirators, or head protection.
