Wayfair’s Forecasting & Replenishment Analytics team builds algorithmic solutions to enhance the customer experience, the supplier experience, and internal operational efficiencies that ultimately drive our bottom line. The team consists of technical analysts, data science/ML/economics experts, ML/software engineers and product managers who are responsible for developing and managing global large-scale forecasting and replenishment systems that power Wayfair’s complex supply chain.
The Operations Forecasting team is responsible for generating accurate, 0-12 week forecasts for all volume streams in the Wayfair supply chain. These forecasts are used as the baseline for labor, capacity, and transportation planning at Wayfair’s fulfillment centers. Using a combination of SQL and Python for the models, the team combines quantitative data modeling with qualitative insights from cross-functional teams to create reliable forecasts. The forecasts produced by the Operations Forecasting team are essential in ensuring that Wayfair’s supply chain is able to evolve with the business in a cost-efficient and scalable way.
The Analyst for Operations Forecasting will drive continuous improvement in the customer fulfillment forecasting space and facilitate strong relationships with all of our stakeholders and cross-functional partners. The role is responsible for generating the weekly forecast, executing error analysis, providing recommendations for model improvement, and communicating findings to various stakeholder groups. This person will develop a deep understanding of the Wayfair customer fulfillment space and will engage with Technology, Operations, and Finance partners to ensure that demand signals accurately reflect the future of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and maintain descriptive and predictive models for the operations forecast that are used by the network for labor and transportation planning
  • Conduct analyses using SQL, R, Python or other similar applications that drive insights and business strategy
  • Communicate forecast outlook to stakeholders with all necessary context to facilitate trust and confidence in Operations Forecast outputs
  • Collaborate with Operations partners on special projects in the customer fulfillment space (fulfillment centers, Wayfair Delivery Network, Returns, etc.)
  • Serve as subject matter expert for data, analytics, and testing within the business unit on demand volume at Wayfair
  • Maintain dashboards that provide visibility into primary drivers of forecast error for stakeholders and executive audiences
