Salary up to £45K depending on experience
We’re looking for a technical author to join our team, working on our Industrial Metrology software product range, MODUS IM.
MODUS IM is a suite of inspection software applications that work together to provide functionality for different users, including programmers, operators, data analysts and automation engineers. The modular flexibility of these applications enables us to configure complete solutions for a diverse range of end users.
You’ll be creating, managing, and delivering high-quality user information for the MODUS IM suite. You’ll work closely with our software engineering and support teams to make sure our user assistance materials meet the needs of our customers.

What you’ll do

  • Write, edit and maintain user information, including Help systems, release documents and data sheets.
  • Use best practices to create and manage content that is topic-based, modular, and reusable.
  • Organise technical content logically and consistently to meet the user’s needs.
  • Work with product owners, subject matter experts and the software development teams to make sure our user information is clear, accurate and complete.
  • Follow and contribute to the documentation terminology, style guide, and processes.
  • Review and advise on user-facing text in our products.
  • Manage the localisation process for our products, including localisation engineering and language pack checking.

What we’re looking for

  • An interest in technical writing within an engineering discipline.
  • Aptitude for communicating via the written word.
  • Ability to absorb and explain complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Enthusiasm for developing relationships with colleagues in different teams and locations, to exchange information and develop solutions.
  • Acute attention to detail and desire for accuracy.
  • Ability to receive feedback and use it to improve your performance.
  • A willingness to gain an understanding of the localisation process and to manage multilingual content.

The successful applicant will be capable of managing a varied workload covering multiple projects. You will possess good interviewing skills for obtaining information from subject matter experts. You will have or develop an interest in and an awareness of current trends in technical authoring.
