YOUR OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Technical Director – Hydropower to join our growing Energy business. As a senior member of our team, you will support the delivery of major hydropower projects in the Australia and New Zealand region. With a significant workload from ongoing pumped hydropower energy storage projects, and a strong and growing pipeline of future work, Mott MacDonald is the leading consultant for the provision of high-quality technical services in this sector.
Through your guidance of the project delivery and the building of a long-term client relationship, we believe this form of business development will enable further growth of our hydropower business. We have already delivered more than 100GW of hydropower and pumped storage across the globe, from technical advisory services, through to Owner’s Engineer and Contractor’s Designer.
As a Senior Leader in the Hydropower Sector, you will be an integral part of a large multidisciplinary, multi-skilled team of engineers, leading design teams, engaging with clients, and working on hydropower and pumped storage projects across Australia, but also worldwide, delivering technical excellence. With the variety of clients and projects we are presently working on and pursuing, the role is diverse and interesting. You will be given hands-on responsibilities for delivering world-class hydropower projects.

The role will also encompass:

  • Providing overall technical guidance for the delivery of hydropower and pumped storage projects.
  • Technical Direction on a wide range of projects including feasibility, detailed design, and construction supervision assignments.
  • Delivery and governance responsibility on major projects in areas such as feasibility development, hydropower planning, detailed design, construction methodology
  • Nurture and support business development activities by working with clients and internal account managers to develop innovative engineering solutions to win new work.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for a motivated professional with a genuine passion to deliver projects, build client relationships, and have extensive experience in Pumped Storage and Hydropower projects. The applicant should have a broad and detailed knowledge of the technical disciplines and considerations that are particular to hydropower and pumped storage projects, as well as demonstrable experience of design delivery in certain aspects.
Additionally, you can bring your proven experience of winning and delivering hydro projects and skills in technical management, project management and design. Finally, you have a MSc or BSc in Civil, Hydraulic, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering (or other relevant discipline).
