Role description:
To provide professional leadership in all aspects of Transmission and Distribution Engineering at a senior management level, establishing and consolidating relationships with clients, taking ownership for the delivery of the region’s technical capability, supporting the delivery of projects or specialised components of projects and Detailed Engineering Frameworks for Substations and Renewables Projects.

Role accountabilities:

  • Lead the technical delivery of complex Transmission and Distribution Substation Detailed Design projects ensuring client satisfaction, effective project management and good communication and collaboration between Arcadis colleagues
  • Engage with and champions the involvement and inclusion of Arcadis Global Design resources, facilitating two way feedback on the performance of project teams using Arcadis Global Design resources
  • Provide technical leadership at a subject level
  • Evaluate technical competence of staff proposed for projects and identify specific training and mentoring needs
  • Take technical line management responsibility for the development and performance management of team members to support the delivery of Arcadis’ business
  • Supports recruitment process and are personally involved in the selection process of Principal Engineers and Associate Technical Directors
  • Promote effective and efficient bid management
  • Provide input into specific technical aspects of individual bids to support the production of high quality winning pursuits

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Sound knowledge of detailed Engineering Design requirements for Substation and Renewables Projects, from feasibility through stage by stage Valid for Construction phases and into final records input to Health and Safety files across the Plant, Protection and Control, Civil and Circuits (Cable and Overhead Line) disciplines.
  • Ability to use a sound evidence-based approach to problem solving and be able to contribute to continuous improvement
  • Can maintain and extend a sound theoretical approach in enabling the introduction and exploitation of new and advancing technology
  • Can engage in the creative and innovative development of engineering technology and continuous improvement systems
  • Manage teams and develop staff to meet changing technical and managerial needs
  • Can identify the limits of both their personal knowledge and skills the limits of their team’s skill and knowledge
  • Exercise sound holistic independent judgement and take responsibility.
  • Lead continuous improvement in “Safe by Design”
  • Sound knowledge of legislation, hazards and safe systems of work
  • Have a BSc/BEng or MSc/MEng or equivalent in a relevant discipline
  • Achieved Chartered or Incorporated Engineer professional status, or equivalent
  • Previous relevant experience including leadership of the development and implementation of engineering solutions
