Description:

Technical Instructor - Integrated Urgent Crisis Team
Band 4- Permanent
37.5 hours per week
This is an exciting opportunity to be a Technical Instructor working across Tameside and Glossop for the Integrated Urgent Crisis Team (IUCT).
IUCT comprises of Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapists, Nurses, and Technical Care Instructors. We offer community based assessment and treatments within the community.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Technical Instructor who will work across Tameside and Glossop with patients , supporting goal-led treatment programmes under the guidance of the multidisciplinary team.
To assess patients referred into the team and implement programs of treatment for specific patients
Treat patients according to departmental protocols or treatment plans.
To work unsupervised with available supervision from a Clinician when required.
To support patients with wound care and pressure area care
To be able to complete the co-ordinator role within IUCT

Section 1- Main Responsibilities
Clinical
Evaluate and prioritise caseload of patients delegated by the coordinators.
Evaluate patient’s conditions and adapt treatment as required According to Departmental protocol/programs.
Treat patients individually without direct supervision from a clinician.
Report any concerns about the patient’s condition to Senior
Staff.
Undertake manual mobilization techniques such as passive Movements and stretches.
Deliver and Assess patients for walking aids and other equipment and Demonstrate the use and maintenance of the aids.
Assess and Instruct patients in the correct use of bathing equipment
Encourage patients and carer’s to have an active approach to Regaining independence. This requires empathy, sensitivity and good interpersonal
skills.
Deal with clients/carer’s who are distressed and have challenging
Behaviour.
Exchange condition related information to patients and their carer’s.
Use effective communication tools with patients who exhibit communication difficulties e.g.: blind, deaf, dysphasic or who do not have English as a first language.
Maintain accurate and contemporaneous patient records in line with
departmental standards for documentation.
Contribute to the development of patient care by attending relevant
team, departmental or other appropriate meetings and comment on recommended changes to clinical area or service provision.
Carry out personal care
Carry out wound care and pressure area care
To complete a holistic assessment and identify any care, equipment or
therapy needs and create appropriate and individual treatment plans
To complete initial assessment on total hip replacements and total
knee replacements and create and adapt appropriate rehab pathways for technical care instructors to follow
To complete coordinator role within IUCT on a rotational basis with other band 4’s and Assistant practitioners on the team to ensure appropriate delegation of work to appropriate staff members
