The Tech Lead will provide team and project thought leadership by applying consulting experiences to drive successful customer projects and build success through mentoring other Engineers.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Regarded as the technical expert in their job family within CDW.
  • Requires in-depth and/or breadth of expertise across field of specialization and has broad knowledge of other job family within the organization function.
  • Serves as a senior advisor to leadership.
  • Provides direction and technical leadership, directing CDW coworkers and customer teams in solution design and development. Provides leadership in creating business cases, financial justification, and solution benefit content for customer ready deliverables and presentation. Monitors financial performance (utilization, bill rates, customer satisfaction and gross margin) for direct team.
  • Collaborate with Practice, Professional Services Managers and Technical Architects to build staff and training plans for effective implementation of new Advanced Technology Solutions, ensure team members are properly trained on executing standard operating procedures for solutions, provide technical and professional mentoring for individual team members, provide Engineer performance feedback to Professional Services Managers, coaches Engineers through feedback and teaching.
  • Provide technical leadership on project, perform billable tasks on projects, work with Project Manager to direct other Engineers on project, ensure methodology is followed and applied and ensure scope issues are being identified, addressed, and resolved.
  • Regularly interface with customer’s technical and business executive level and project leadership through sales presentations and/or client project solutions in communicating complex ideas, anticipating potential objections, and leading discussions to align expectations.
  • Technical Leads act as lead engineers on projects or in an advisory roleProvide feedback to the Practice and technical Architects on the implementation of Advanced Technology solutions.
  • Technical Leads are charged with accelerating the professional development of Engineers. They are assigned a team of engineers to oversee and mentor.
  • Technical Leads are expected to spend 25% of their time developing Coworkers and contributing their technical/consulting expertise to growing the business.
  • Discuss Advanced Technology solutions with customers, particularly as it pertains to CDW’ - ATS’s Engagement Methodology.
  • Develops appropriate criteria to support the CDW training program (ACE) provides leadership to this program.
  • Provides leadership and backup to the Delivery Manager
  • Has the ability and skill to provide technical identification and remediation of challenges with the services team. Possesses the ability to train coworkers while also ensuring remediation of challenges are outcome driven. Takes ownership of closure of issues from a technical perspective.
  • Formally mentors assigned and unassigned team members on a wide variety of topics from Consulting to Technology to work-life harmony to career direction and progression.Serves as “right hand” to the Services Manager in shaping and developing the team.

What we expect of you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, a related technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Ten years’ experience delivering large scale, enterprise-class technical solutions including planning, development, implementation, and support.
  • One-year CDW Engineering experience
  • Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills including demonstrated experience presenting technology recommendations from a business perspective to internal and external clients.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
  • History of building constructive relationships with clients, partners, and coworkers at all levels of the organization, navigating interpersonal and group dynamics comfortably.
  • Advises and coaches team members on best practices for relevant client documentation needs, as well as maintaining internal documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to act in a calm and productive manner when confronted with change, ambiguity, and risk. Identifies and engages all levels of leadership to proactively address problems.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to develop longer-range project plans and schedules to complete complex projects or new solution/product development.
  • Anticipates future trends and implications accurately, readily posing future scenarios. Articulates credible pictures and visions of possibilities that will create value.
  • Creates competitive and breakthrough strategies that show a clear connection between vision and action.
  • Must be able and willing to work beyond their regularly scheduled shift, select weekends, overtime as necessary or on occasion to meet operational needs.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed to other CDW locations or client sites.

CUSTOMER FOCUS AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES

Each CDW coworker is responsible for maintaining customer focus and conforms to the CDW quality management system.
Specific responsibilities include:
a) Periodic reviews of CDW Circle of Service Philosophy and the Quality Policy to understand CDW’s commitment to excellent client service and continual improvement and to always conform to these policies and philosophies.
b) During your orientation period, review with your supervisor as needed the department procedures and operating instructions listed at Connect/Departments/Resources/ISO intranet site that apply to your specific assignment(s) within the scope of this job position.
c) And after the orientation period to conform to these procedures and instructions, including any reporting (and/or record keeping) responsibilities.
d) Report any customer problem, or any service outage that may cause potential customer problems to your supervisor.
e) Communicate improvement ideas that you have regarding CDW service quality or customer satisfaction per established means.
