About Technology
The GSMA Technology team is part of the Industry Services and Solutions pilar of the GSMA. Its is responsible for maintaining and evolving the technology processes that have underpinned the mobile industry for the past 30 years. The department also has the responsibility to support the creation and development of new products and services to support the industry’s growth it does this though a group of member communities that engage with industry leads to shape the future.
These communities either focus on a type of technology (e.g. IoT) or an adjacent industries (e.g. Finance) to move sector-specific innovations forward and help drive growth through collaboration with the wider ecosystem.

About the Role
Recent trends show the growing adoption of enabling technologies such as wireless networks, cloud, edge, AI and IoT across most sectors. Enterprises are facing new external pressures such as disruption of supply chains, rising energy costs, new working patterns and compliance with sustainability-related targets. Increasingly mobile and digital technologies are helping enterprises address these challenges.
As a Technical Manager – Connected Manufacturing and Production, you will be responsible for driving forward high profilehigh-profile collaborative projects with mobile network operators, manufacturers and the wider industrial ecosystem, and developing the GSMA’s reputation in this sector.
You will be responsible for:
-

Leading a high-profile activity workstream with a deliverable during 2024

  • Working with a lead mobile operator and coordinating other contributing organisations to shape the activity.
  • Oversee the format and structure of the output (e.g. a paper, presentation webinar, event presentation)
  • Oversee the content development and manage the output quality.
  • Run regular meetings as needed with contributing members

Being the primary internal contact point for GSMA events that carry Connected Manufacturing and Production content such as MWC Las Vegas. This includes:

  • Engagement with Marketing
  • Support content teams
  • Supporting the Technical Director with the strategy and content development for MWC Barcelona 2025 and Hannover Messe.

This role may require some engagement with membership and sponsorship sales.
This role may also require some international travel to support events and meetings.
The successful candidate will report to a Technical Director.

As Technical Manager – Connected Manufacturing and Production, you will also demonstrate:

Proven experience in taking ownership of and leading a project to conclusion.

  • Examples of high-quality project outputs such as whitepapers, reports, or case studies.
  • Excellent communication skills (writing, speaking & presenting) with ability to adapt to the needs of the different level of audiences
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and management skills, with both internal and external stakeholders, across range of seniority and role types (technical, Business Development, PR, Marketing, Sales etc.).
  • Your problem-solving skills contribute to a proactive approach, and you maintain composure under pressure.
  • An outcome focused mindset
  • Ability to absorb, analyse and simplify complex information
  • Exposure to, or strong grasp of, business drivers for enterprise organisations.
  • A good understanding of technology / digital transformation.
  • Ability to work independently, whilst also to actively seek and value the expertise and ideas of others to create collaboration.
  • Demonstrate the GSMA’s values and contribute to a positive work environment
  • Proactive & creative in solving problems and removing impediments, and flexible and adaptable to changes

While not essential, the following will be beneficial:

  • Experience in any of the following:
  • mobile telecommunications
  • industry 4.0/ digitalization of the manufacturing or industrial sector
  • IoT
  • Experience of working in international and matrix organisations
