We are 2,800 people working within 8 bakeries, 1 flour mill, and 2 regional distribution centres across the UK. We are currently looking for an experienced Technical Manager to join our team at our Bradford Bakery. The role will be responsible for supporting Hovis to deliver its vision of the best quality products every day, enabling growth in a sustainable way and creating superior value for its stakeholders.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage all aspects of Quality, Food Safety & Legality on site.
  • To lead the site Hygiene Team with the Hygiene Manager.
  • To drive continuously for improvement in site standards by advising site Operations and Engineering teams in technical matters, identify issues, problem solve and ensure root cause is identified and corrective and preventative actions are taken.
  • Facilitate step-change thinking to sustain the Quality agenda, ensuring the continued delivery of in specification products as monitored by BQED.
  • Governance of the site quality plan – ensuring timely delivery of quality improvement projects.
  • Supporting the overarching complaint reduction program – providing technical governance of the complaints system and proactively supporting manufacturing.
  • Providing governance of the HACCP plan and pre-requisite control programs.
  • To effectively communicate emerging issues or issues that may influence product safety from wider markets.
  • Coaching and mentoring of site teams to ensure that audit standards are applied consistently and appropriately.
  • Ensuring timely close-out of incidents of non-conformance or appropriate vertical escalation.
  • Ensure the site routine cleaning schedule is maintained, reviewed and audited in line with requirements.
  • Ensure the regular plant cleans are resourced and delivered to the appropriate standards.
  • To manage the segregation, storage and timely removal of all waste in line with budget.
  • Oversee the hygiene and waste budgets to ensure annual forecasts are achieved.
  • Instrumental in setting the annual budget – supporting the financial team to accurately deliver costs against budget , ensuring appropriate resources are made available to the technical function.
  • Overarching management of the department budget.
