We are looking for a Technical Manager to join our High Prairie Division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill is undergoing an exciting major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which will make us the most modern mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • Experience in leading technical aspects of manufacturing including identifying and implementing process improvements, new technology, research and development.
  • Bachelor of Science in Wood Science, Wood Products processing, or Engineering or the equivalent related experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes with experience in OSB (Oriented Strand Board)/EWP (Engineered Wood Products) preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to safety.
  • Focus on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Strong statistical knowledge and computer literacy.

In this role you will:

  • Lead with a strong focus on safety and provide feedback and support to our Process Engineer/Specialist.
  • Leverage your knowledge and experience to assist in the development and improvement of both new and existing products and processes.
  • Stay on top of new industry developments and standards in technology and customer satisfaction to recommend, plan, and organize actions that will keep the mill current.
  • Leverage your relationship-building and interpersonal skills to interact with our Sales and Production teams and keep the product cost model current.
  • Use your knowledge of code requirements, third-party testing agencies and experience in statistical process control to plan, organize and implement resin or mill trials.

  • You’ll earn an additional northern allowance on top of your base pay.
