Tauranga is the fifth largest city in the country, and Tauranga City Council is one of New Zealand’s growth councils. We are seeking a Technical Officer (Compliance Schedule/BWOF) to join our Compliance team within our Regulatory & Compliance Group on a permanent basis.
This is an exciting opportunity that exists to provide high quality technical knowledge and support to the Building Services team and wider Regulatory and Compliance Group in relation to the Compliance Schedule / BWOF process. The Technical Officer (Compliance Schedule/BWOF) will actively contribute to the development of processes and procedures that apply to building control and the Building Consent Authority in Council and maintain / report the statistics needed for Council, BCA, IANZ and MBIE reporting.
Key duties include:
- Compliance Schedule / BWoF Certificate and Co-ordination
- BWoF Audit and Compliance
- Relationship management
- Statistical reporting and data management
To be successful in this position, you must have extensive knowledge of legislative frameworks including, but not restricted to, detailed knowledge of the Building Act 2004 and Local Government Act 2002.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring;
- Proven experience in a New Zealand Building Consent Authority / Territorial Authority/BWoF Industry
- A passion for fostering innovation and encouraging process improvements and regular reviews and updates
- The ability to clarify objectives, identify key issues, consider all perspectives and logically evaluate all factors
- Demonstrated high level relationship development, management and customer facilitation skills
- A tertiary qualification in a building related activity preferred but not essentia
