What to Expect
Tesla’s Production Control Process Engineering Team is seeking a Technical Project Manager (TPM) to manage multiple design and continuous improvement projects at GFTX for the Process Engineering Team. The Production Control Engineering team is responsible for design and implement conveyance methods, manpower requirements, equipment needs, lineside layouts, warehouse layouts and replenishment methods to convey raw material effectively and safely to the line. However, our job only begins with the design. Through a continuous feedback loop with our operations team, we constantly evaluate and improve our processes to streamline material flow by eliminating non-value-added activities.
The TPM will manage multiple-simultaneous projects from concept phase through design and implementation. The TPM will develop the project plan to include scope, schedule, technical and resource requirements, cost/budget, change management, stakeholder and vendor management, communication, critical issues management, quality, risk management, procurement planning, project reporting and monitoring, and overall implementation management. The TPM will be tasked to deliver projects that meet the functional requirements identified at the onset of the project, the established timeline, and will ensure a successful implementation with no impact to current operations.

What You’ll Do

  • Integrates factory requirements, layouts, and goals for Plan of Record and scope definition
  • Translates technical stakeholder requirements into project scope with a clear execution plan
  • Leads factory scoping efforts, coordinating cross-functional teams, and ensuring alignment
  • Manages program schedule, requirements, and reporting tools for progress and risks
  • Directs internal operations during installation, commissioning, testing, and integration phases
  • Authors weekly/as-needed project status, summary, and issue resolution tracking reports
  • Drives vendor partnership, ensuring alignment on engineering requirements, scope, and schedule

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in large-scale factory commissioning and improvement projects; also open to expertise in Process, Manufacturing Design, Program/Project Management, and Project Engineering
  • Hands-on experience managing engineering projects and teams, including coordination of distributed, complex cross-functional teams, establishment of effective team processes, and leadership in meetings
  • Methodical communication and documentation skills, capable of simplifying complex problems for a diverse audience
  • Thrives in a “plaid speed” environment, remaining engaged, proactive, and positive even under challenging circumstances
