About the OPPORTUNITY
We have a great opportunity for a Technical Publication Author to join our ASC Shipbuilding Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) unit, based at Osborne SA, reporting to the ILS Principal Technical Officer – Publications.
You will be responsible for writing, reviewing and coordinating the technical publications associated with the systems for the Australian built OPV. Working across all aspects of the essential Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Documentation.

Responsibilities:

  • Utilise ship design information, Reference Ship Information and equipment vendor data to develop OPV Special and Technical Publications in accordance with contractual standards, Shipbuilding processes and ILS Product Guides.
  • Assess Customer and Vendor supplied data to determine suitability and plan for use in the development of OPV Technical Publications.
  • Working collaboratively with maintenance analysts, engineering, illustrators and other key contributors to deliver a high quality publication.
  • Review, proof read and edit the publications to ensure the consistency of a high quality product.
  • Coordinate review comments and feedback, respond to reviewers and implement updates to publications as required.
  • Make recommendations for improvement of processes and procedures with respect to publications development and ILS.
  • Coordinate the maintenance and the legitimacy of the technical publications processes and work instructions.
  • Other duties as requested.

About YOU

  • You have experience as a writer /author of publications associated with operation and maintenance of large scale production projects.
  • Experience of working within a team environment on a complex multidisciplinary project
  • Ability to work as team member and autonomously as required.
  • Exceptional ability to use good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to perform allocated tasks under pressure/time constraints.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and confidence dealing with all levels of Management and personnel.
  • Good standard of personal organisation and attention to detail.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of Corporate Business Systems
  • High level of expertise in MS Office, especially in Word and XLS.
  • Exposure to and knowledge of structured authoring tools
