ABOUT US

Our client is a worldwide leader in safe, clean electricity generation and energy services. They are currently looking for a Technical Services Manager with expertise in Power, Renewable Energy to join their team in Melbourne.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with a preference for mechanical engineering
  • Chartered status and eligibility for Professional Engineer registration
  • Possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in power, renewable energy, or related fields, with additional experience in hydrogen being advantageous
  • Have at least 5 years of project management experience with a renewable energy developer, energy company, contractor, or engineering consultancy
  • Demonstrate a proven record in project delivery, risk management, safety management, and technical due diligence for renewable energy or hydrogen projects, with specific experience in detailed design, construction, and commissioning considered a plus
  • Show a broad understanding of engineering principles and the commercial impacts of engineering decisions, effectively communicating this understanding to team members
  • Be familiar with various project documentation, including EPC contracts, work breakdown structures, EIAs, quality assurance management plans, and project execution plans
  • Have knowledge of permitting and approval processes for large-scale infrastructure projects, such as wind farms, electricity/gas transmission, or major hazard facilities
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, project partners, contractors, and government stakeholders at all levels
  • Be willing to travel domestically and internationally as required

Responsibilities:

  • Lead technical aspects of project development from pre-feasibility to delivery, overseeing engineering consultants and contractors.
  • Act as the technical representative, providing oversight for projects managed by partners, particularly in design, construction, and commissioning.
  • Evaluate the technical feasibility of renewable energy and hydrogen production projects.
  • Conduct technical and environmental due diligence for potential acquisitions.
  • Engage with internal and external stakeholders, including partners, lenders, clients’ technical teams, advisors, insurers, and electricity suppliers.
  • Collaborate with various internal teams, such as Business Development and Portfolio Management, and Accounting and Tax.
  • Assist in negotiating project documents, focusing on technical issues.
  • Prepare documents for pre-qualification and requests for proposals, manage scopes of work, evaluate technical bids, and oversee EPC contracts.
  • Understand and comply with local requirements, including social, environmental, and traditional owner considerations, ensuring project organizations are aware of and respond to local developments.
