Description:

Wenco International Mining Systems (www.wencomine.com), a subsidiary of Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM), provides industry leading, innovative technologies to customers in the mining and material movement sectors, enabling sustainable and safe operations.
GENERAL SUMMARY: The Technical Solutions Manager is responsible for the technical product management for Hitachi Construction Machinery (HCM) ESG and Sustainability related solutions that are based on integration of HCM digital platform with 3rd party technologies. These responsibilities include understanding sensor, monitoring and reporting technologies related to Scope 1 emissions for mobile mining (and potentially other) equipment and technologies related to overall mining site GHG and related environmental emission reduction. The ESG Technical Solutions Manager is also responsible for the technical relationships with other 3rd party ESG ecosystem partners that access machine data from HCM digital platform/Readyline.io or other data sources, and provide value-added analytics back to Hitachi for use in their ESG related digital solutions to customers and Hitachi dealers.
The ESG Technical Solutions Manager is the Hitachi representative that will collaborate with HCM Group (Wenco, Bradken, HEP etc) and Ecosystem Partner technical teams to ensure successful HCM branded Sustainability solutions to Hitachi dealers and customers. The ESG Technical Solutions Manager will also help evaluate the technical capabilities of potential acquisition (M&A) candidates and startup investment opportunities, including confidential due diligence investigations and eventual testing with early adopter customers as part of the Proof of Value process.

Skills most aligned with this position are similar to a customer oriented Technical Product Manager with real world experience in ESG based technologies, particularly relating to GHG reduction solutions for industrial (particularly mining) operators.

  • Joint technical planning with Hitachi group companies and 3rd Party ESG technology partners
  • Documentation and evaluation of technical requirements to retrieve/store Scope 1 sustainability related machine data (provided by HCM group company Wenco Readyline.io IoT platform and other customer or 3rd party data sources)
  • Documentation and planning for sharing machine data with 3rd party cloud partners via APIs and receiving and integrating value-added analytics and insights from those partners back into HCM digital solutions to deliver value to customers and dealers
  • Evaluation of technical capabilities of ESG/Sustainability related 3rd party solutions for the purpose of joint solution offering to customers, startup Corporate Venture Capital (CVC) investment and M&A due diligence processes.

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITY REQUIRED:

Experience and Knowledge

  • 5-10 years Technical Product Management or related experience in ESG, Sustainabililty, GHG reduction
  • Experience identifying and working with Industrial IoT and/or cloud based ecosystem partners including creation of APIs and technical planning for customer deployments around sustainability solutions
  • Experience creating and delivering presentations to both technical and business audiences, including value proposition around ESG/Sustainability
  • Previous experience with sustainability technologies and services for mining or similar industrial markets (e.g. oil and gas, transportation etc.)
  • Fluency in English is a must, Japanese is a plus

Base salary of CAD $125,000 - $160,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with the HCM Digital Strategy and Proof of Value team and group/partner company technical product management to define technical requirements for HCM ESG offerings, both in terms of applications/technologies and services
  • Work with HCM dealers and customers to understand technical requirements to inform GHG reduction/sustainability solution roadmap, and work with HCM Proof of Value (POV) team to plan testing with lead customers and dealers for initial early adopter versions of HCM branded ESG solutions and service offerings.
  • Plan and Document requirements for capturing and securely sharing machine data and analytical insights (starting with mobile and fixed plant mining operations equipment, ERP and other data sources) between HCM stakeholders and 3rd party ecosystem partners.
  • Evaluate and document technical capabilities of 3rd party solutions as part of the Proof of Value early adoption testing, CVC investment and M&A due diligence processes
