We are looking for a Technical Superintendent, Casting to continue the journey of supporting the NZAS Casting and Logistics team in the safe and effective delivery of specialist casting functions (Ingot, Billet & Slab/Block) with a continuous improvement mindset. Equally as important to the success of supporting the operational functions is the inclusive leadership and coaching of all key members of the team, leading by example in a safety-focused manner that will encourage people to learn and develop whilst feeling supported. This position has a large focus on collaboration with not only internal stakeholders and teams (Operations, Maintenance, Quality, Sales & Scheduling) but also with our customers.

Reporting to the Manager Casting & Logistics you will:

  • Passionately lead, coach and develop a diverse team of technical personnel.
  • Create an interdependent safety and quality culture where teams take ownership and responsibility.
  • Assign tasks and provide feedback and coaching to leaders and team members, which includes recognising achievements and provision of development plans.
  • Play a key role in coordinating the effective execution of all technical requirements within Casting.
  • Be a key person in the communication with external customers and help build a customer-focused operational culture

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

  • A proven record of delivering outstanding safety, quality and technical performance
  • A highly effective visual and engaging leadership style
  • Demonstrated success in leading technical teams within a manufacturing or heavy industry environment
  • The ability to coach and develop technical leaders to be highly effective in engaging and leading their teams
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence, build credibility and trust across all levels of the organisation
  • The capacity to problem solve and perform root cause analysis for technical and operational critical issues
  • Come from an Engineering or heavy industry background – Open to all industries not just aluminiu
