Description:

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Familiarity with Health, Safety, Environmental Protection, and Quality Policy (PL-005) and understanding of responsibilities under the Environmental Management System (EMS).
  • Guides, advises, and monitors vessel operations; assists crew with maintenance.
  • Researches technical information for equipment breakdowns, improvements, and upgrades.
  • Prepares for scheduled dry dockings, surveys, and repairs; manages supply of spares, stores, and services.
  • Ensures vessels comply with local and international rules, Safety Management System (SMS), and operational certification requirements.
  • Analyzes ships’ performance and relays information to onboard personnel.
  • Visits vessels in ports, ensuring safe and economical operation.
  • Monitors and resolves onboard issues, including technical, quality-assurance, health and safety, commercial, or personnel matters.
  • Prepares budgets for vessel operations, dry dockings, surveys, repairs, and modifications.
  • Monitors expenses and submits variance reporting against budget.
  • Ensures reporting employees adhere to company policies and procedures.
  • Communicates expectations to direct reports, manages performance, and provides leadership and support.
  • Demonstrates commitment to company’s Maritime Resource Management values.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience as Chief Engineer onboard Ocean-going vessels.
  • Strong technical knowledge.
  • Class 1 marine engineer certificate.
  • Experience with container ships.
  • Education in mechanical engineering.
  • Knowledge of Planned Maintenance Systems, knowledge of technical, procurement & logistics processes.
