Job Title: Technical Support Engineer (Telecoms)
Location: North West England
Reports To: Technical Manager
Job Type: Permanent
Salary: Negotiable

Objectives for this Technical Support Engineer Role:

  • Pre & Post sales technical supportS
  • Supporting test activities with customer during Type acceptance phases
  • Training partners and internal field operators on equipment

Main functions for this Technical Support Engineer Role:

  • Remote customer support, analysing technical questions on already deployed systems
  • Support Central Help Desk analysis collecting and forwarding all the required information in a structured way
  • Perform detailed and thorough analysis of the gathered information filtering technical issues to be escalated to Central Help Desk, being able to solving most of the basic issues
  • Piloting/interoperability testing of equipment into customer networks
  • Supporting the acceptance phase required to verify the functions, features, performance, interworking, conformance and quality of equipment in front of the customer
  • Manage NMS and OSS systems on Linux/Unix platforms
  • Support Radio Link Planning activities, including calculation with various tools of link budgets and propagation
  • IP Network design and troubleshootin
  • Supporting technical sales department for Customer feature workshops / demonstrations on new/extended feature sets

Key Skills Required for this Technical Support Engineer Role:

  • Degree in Electrical or Telecommunications or equivalent
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in Telecom
  • Planning, organisational, analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
  • Detailed knowledge of telecommunications standards and practises
  • Knowledge on Unix/Linux preferred
  • Knowledge of Network management systems and techniques
  • Knowledge of IP and TDM technology
  • Excellent English verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure
  • Cisco CCNA/P preferred
