About the job:
The Red Hat Enhanced Support team is looking for Technical Support Engineer to join us.
In this role, you will be critical to the success of Red Hat cloud technologies by serving as a technical support for our solutions with SAP software running in public clouds. You will regularly collaborate with engineers and customer success colleagues from Red Hat, SAP, and our partners. You’ll help to support and create solutions that allow enterprise IT customers to more easily install SAP on the Red Hat Linux Platform (RHEL). Work location is flexible. Red Hat has global offices and well-qualified home-based engineers will be considered.

What you will do:

  • Work with Red Hat partners and cloud providers to create joint solutions based on Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform
  • Test joint solutions with our partners and cloud providers preparing drafts for documentation
  • Provide technical support to Red Hat enterprise customers customers by responding to incoming calls, chat, and web-based inquiries
  • Partner closely with colleagues from Red Hat Sales to assist their understanding of the company’s joint offerings with cloud providers
  • Regularly communicate and collaborate with Red Hat engineers who are onsite at SAP in Germany
  • Contribute internally to the Red Hat knowledge management system, share best practices with team members, and commit to internal projects and initiatives
  • Troubleshoot and solve complex technical issues and drive issue escalation with Red Hat, cloud providers, partners, and customer teams

What you will bring:

  • 3+ years of experience with Linux operating system installation, configuration, upgrade, and maintenance and a good understanding of Linux command line tools
  • Practical experience with cloud providers like Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google, and Alibaba
  • Experience installing SAP products, including SAP HANA, SAP NetWeaver, S/4HANA, etc.
  • Software development background, including experience writing patches and with scripting languages like Bash, Perl, or Python
  • Troubleshooting and debugging skills; passion for problem-solving and investigation
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision with a globally-distributed team of engineers
