ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good understanding and working knowledge of all Microsoft Office packages including Excel , Word, Power Point, Teams 365, and Outlook
  • The ability to accurately record, analyse and interpret large volumes of technical data
  • The ability to interpret and implement systems, policies or procedures, follow pre-determined instructions and the ability to record and report information accurately
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail

    The Technical Support Officer (Management Systems) will report directly to the Principal WMO (Management Systems).
    The post holder will provide general technical & admin support across all areas of the waste service functions and use practical and procedural knowledge. The post holder will be proactive in the planning of tasks and have the ability to problem solve in interpreting information to produce management reports from various systems.
    The main focus of this role will be assisting with the continuous development and maintenance of a comprehensive Integrated Management System covering both internal processes and on-site operations. The Integrated Management System will include all aspects of health, safety, quality and environmental compliance and the post holder will assist others in the team with the development of working procedures, safe systems of work, risk assessments and the implementation of procedures.
    An excellent attention to detail is required in order to develop and assess large amounts of documents very similar in nature whilst recording amendments and controlling the issue of documents to staff.
    An element of this role will involve some basic auditing of the management systems in an operational setting and as such this role will involve some working on Waste sites operational facilities.

Typical duties will include the following:

  • Receipt, processing and analysis of service specific data and information, for example accident/incident logs, near misses, environmental permit compliance, and inspections.
  • Administration of management systems and document control.
  • Assisting in the development, recording and implementation of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Assisting in developing systems for the management and monitoring of compliance with legal obligations including environmental permits and other compliance related documents.
  • Assisting in providing training on new and existing systems to staff at a variety of levels and ability.
  • Basic internal auditing and reporting on the implementation of management systems on operational sites.
  • Liaising with staff and other stakeholders to identify potential risks or issues.
  • Dealing with customer queries and enquiries.
  • Identifying opportunities for improving procedures and processes within the team or wider service area to support the continuous improvement of services.
  • Supporting the Principal WMO (Management Systems) in aspects of the delivery of their role that are commensurate to the grade of the post.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • There may be rare occasions where the post holder may be requested to work weekends or Bank Holidays as part of their role or to support wider operational activities.
  • The post holder will occasionally be required to work outdoors on operational waste facilities.The post holder will be required to undertake relevant competency qualifications where required.
