Description:
KEY SKILL SETS:
- Ability to work alone in a remote environment with minimum supervision.
- Able to take decision in case of emergency in the best interest of Domtar.
- Demonstrated skill in overseeing contractors.
- Demonstrated communication and computer skills.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in environmental experience and/or operating water treatment plant.
- General knowledge of construction practices and repairs.
- Certified Environmental Technician (CET), preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, and monitor a pollution control water collecting and treatment system in compliance with regulatory approval. Plan, organize and implement all necessary repairs to ensure continual system operation. Collect, compile, and report all necessary information, as required, to comply with operating permits.
- Ensure the Trenton property complies with local laws and regulations, is safe and orderly and maintained in a way that will not raise concerns from the local community. Plan, organize and conduct all property maintenance (building, land, etc.).
- Identify potential issues, determine actions to correct, evaluate and after obtaining supervisor’s authorization, manage its implementation.
- Assist with the hiring and supervision of external contractors when required. Oversee environmental consultants and contractors work, on-site, for quality and cost control of various non-routine remedial construction projects that become necessary to ensure full control of human health and environment at the site.
- Plan and organize an emergency response plan to ensure diligent response for emergencies occurring outside of the regular working hours and to ensure full control of the site during vacation periods. Remain on call for emergencies.
- Monitor local public and regulatory opinion and notify supervisor if needed
