QUALIFICATIONS:

  • DEC avec 2 ans d’expérience ou Diplôme d’études secondaires avec 5 ans d’expérience pertinente.
  • Être disponible à travailler le jour à partir de 8h30.
  • Doit être à l’aise avec le travail avec divers produits chimiques, généralement en petites quantités, comme on peut s’y attendre dans un environnement de laboratoire.
  • Habiletés avec systèmes et outils informatiques (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Être autonome au travail.
  • Habileté à travailler en équipe.
  • Connaissance de SIMDUT.
  • Capacité de lire et interpréter les documents tels que les règles de sécurité, manuel d’instructions et de maintenance et manuel de procédures.
  • Habile à trouver des solutions.
  • Grand intérêt pour le travail manuel.
  • Maintenir son espace de travail organisé.
  • Possède des habiletés à communiquer à l’oral et à l’écrit en anglais et en français.
  • Être bilingue (français et anglais). Un bon niveau d’anglais écrit et verbal est nécessaire pour communiquer efficacement avec nos clients anglophones.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • DEC with 2 years of experience or High School Diploma with 5 years of relevant experience.

-Be available to work starting at -8h30 am.

  • Must be comfortable with working with various chemicals, usually in small quantities, as can be expected in a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in using Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Oral and written communication skills in English and French.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Can work autonomously.
  • Can work efficiently as part of a team.
  • Comfortable to work with chemical products.
  • Knowledge of WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System).
  • Keen interest in manual work.
  • Can read and understand documents like safety rules, user and maintenance guides and SOP’s.
  • Troubleshooting skills.
  • Maintain organized workspace.
  • Bilingual (French and English). A good level of written and oral English is required to communicate effectively with our English speaking clients.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Laboratory Technicians at NuChem Sciences play a pivotal role in supporting our scientists, ensuring they have the resources they need to carry out scientific research within our well-equipped and cutting-edge laboratories. Whilst this role does not offer a route into a scientific position, it is a fantastic opportunity for a highly enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Laboratory Technician team in their efforts to support the successful day-to-day running of our Lévis laboratories.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure the supply of raw materials for research scientists (solvents, salts, consumables, etc.) in the designated areas;
  • Remove chemical synthesis by-products from laboratories (solvents, aqueous waste, etc.);
  • Monitor scientists to ensure that the work environment is supplied and optimized at all times;
  • Participate in the inventory control:
  • Ensure that the adequate inventory level of the general store is maintained;
  • Dispose of empty and decontaminated product bottles;
  • Remove expired products from the general inventory and classify them for neutralization;
  • Supporting the reception/dispatch of goods on an ad hoc basis:
  • Take charge of the reception of goods including packages and consumables;
  • Verify documentation to ensure accuracy;
  • Storing and distributing packages and consumables;
  • Maintain a safe work environment in support areas (warehouse, general store, solvent room);
  • Heavy handling of 22 kg or less (50 pounds or less);
  • Assist the Operations Manager as needed (occasional manual and maintenance tasks).
