JOB DESCRIPTION

As a Technology Support Specialist you will help build a meaningful engineering discipline, combining software and systems to develop creative engineering solutions to operations problems. Much of our support and software development focuses on optimizing existing systems, building infrastructure, and reducing work through automation in our vCF environments. You will join a team of curious problem solvers with a diverse set of perspectives who are thinking big and taking risks. In this environment you will take the lead on relevant projects, supported by an organization that provides the support and mentorship you need to learn and grow. As an SRE you will be focused on running better production applications and systems.
You will join the Global Vmware Cloud Infrastructure Support team and leverage your knowledge of programming and infrastructure automation to affect change.

The right person for this role will have:

  • Experience in end-to-end systems automation and orchestration using VMware vRO and vRA is a requirement for this role
  • Prior experience in both Systems Engineering and Software Development
  • Experience in software development in one or more of the programming languages (JavaScript, Java, Python, PowerShell, PowerCLi)
  • Modern compute technologies (e.g., virtualization, cloud)
  • Familiar with Agile development process and automated testing
  • Experience working across large infrastructure environments and distributed across multiple data centers
  • Experience in Systems and Application monitoring systems and instrumentation
  • Strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills with clear communication
  • Ability to collaborate with different roles to achieve common goals
  • Experience working in teams following Agile methodologies
  • Experience working with Relational Databases
  • Experience creating, running, and debugging vRO workflows
  • Strong background with VMware suite (vSphere 7.0 and up)
