REQUIREMENTS

  • BEng Hons or equivalent experience in chemistry, mechanical, electrical, or chemical engineering.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in development, testing, and launch of hardware, chemical process and/or and software solutions in a highly collaborative and cross-functional environment.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
  • Hardworking and excited to contribute to the Chemify mission.

DESIRED SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

  • Use of Python to interface with mechatronic systems.
  • Use of Solidworks Composer to create build instructions.
  • Experience with fluidic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

As Chemify continues to automate all of chemistry, the technology transfer technician will fulfil a key role ensuring that hardware and software products are suitably tested, documented and ready for use by our Operations team as they change the world of Chemistry through automation! The technology transfer technician will work closely with technical colleagues across the business to develop and execute test plans, assist with documentation and build instructions, and maintain a focus on rapid delivery of new products and processes. This is a diverse role and the technology transfer technician will be expected to communicate effectively with many technical roles, from software engineers to chemists, helping to guide the integration of our technologies and processes into Chemifys expanding network of discovery factories, first in Glasgow and then globally.
The successful candidate will have a track record of successful product introduction and a desire to work hands-on at the cutting edge of chemical process automation. Additionally, the technology transfer technician will have a service mentality to understand the needs of the business and will use it to accelerate the introduction of new products and processes. The ideal candidate will be a smart, enthusiastic, energetic, and ambitious individual excited to contribute to development of the worlds best infrastructure for high-throughput chemistry that will eventually handle the worlds load of synthesis.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Troubleshooting the performance of processes, hardware, and software platforms during the technology transfer lifecycle from late stage development to robust utilization in daily operations.
  • Rapid and thoughtful response to issues towards full recovery of timeline and process/system performance, clear and timely communication with all stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate cross-functional leadership by owning the resolution of complex issues across multiple scientific, operational, and engineering disciplines.
  • Preparation of test plans with software and hardware engineering colleagues for engineering and user acceptance testing by translating user requirements into verifiable outcomes.
  • Execution and reporting of engineering and user acceptance testing.
  • Assisting with the preparation of standard operating procedures and build instructions.
  • Quality control and qualification testing of platforms prior to transfer to operations.
  • Ensuring that consistent protocols and practices are maintained across all test programmes.
  • Identifying opportunities for improvement in product and manufacturing processes.
  • Improving the speed and efficiency of new product and process introduction.
  • Supporting the commissioning of operations hardware and software and training of operations personnel.
  • Participate in other tasks across the company to ensure Chemifys ultimate success.
