  • ASIC is seeking a full-time Telecommunications Analyst to join their Intelligence & International - Information and Knowledge Resource Centre
  • Temporary (12 month) position based in Sydney or Melbourne
  • Salary starting from $90,749 (plus 15.4% superannuation) depending on experience

    The team
    The work of the Information and Knowledge Resource Centre (IKRC) is to ensure ASIC meets its legislative & regulatory requirements, minimising compliance risks, and providing strategic guidance to enhance new technologies, learning and processes. The IKRC consists of Intelligence Support, Knowledge & Information Management, Library & Research Services and Records Governance.
    Intelligence Support provides operational support for enforcement investigations and regulatory activities through the gathering of intelligence information using authorised searches on data systems managed by external agencies.

The role

  • Conduct complex intelligence searches to deliver tactical intelligence information to ASIC stakeholders in accordance with policies and procedures, privacy requirements and procedures for handling personal information, including some out of hours availability required.
  • Liaise with external providers and agencies to address complex queries related to the provision of telecommunications data and understand evolving technology used.
  • Support the ongoing training of all Intel staff members in Telecommunications searches to ensure provision of timely and high quality Telco searches to ASIC internal stakeholders respecting compliance requirements.
  • Liaison with other Government agencies and telecommunications providers in relation to compliance and changes in the Telecommunications legislation and systems; participation in external meetings and groups related to these changes; coordination with internal ASIC stakeholders on changes affecting ASIC access to telecommunications data.
  • Provide leadership and input including resourcing and recruitment, performance management where applicable; providing coaching, mentoring and day to day support on intelligence searches; and
  • Work as a leadership team with Intelligence Support Manager and senior team members to ensure efficient delivery of core services and high staff engagement.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or relevant work experience.
  • Experience working with law enforcement, legal services, accounting, financial services environment or a government agency.
  • Experience using a variety of software applications simultaneously including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), information management systems and databases to process, store, retrieve and report information.
  • Experience searching, analysing and interpreting complex telecommunications information on databases to provide data, solutions or advice to stakeholders.
  • Experience in analysing telecommunications data or information and effectively presenting it to different target audiences through strong business writing and verbal communication skills.
  • Stakeholder management experience including building, maintaining and utilising networks and relationships.
  • Experience in liaising with other government departments on impact of changes to legislation, compliance requirements or system changes.
  • Management skills to successfully encourage and develop direct reports with differing skill levels to ensure staff development, effective utilisation of resources and management of the change impact on the team.
  • Experience in developing and presenting training programs to team and internal stakeholders.
