Description:
Responsibilities:
The Telehealth Nurse provides culturally appropriate primary health care and access to after-hours emergency care by supporting clients in managing their health concerns and accessing timely medical assistance. The Telehealth Nurse is responsible for providing clinical support to clients outside of regular business hours. The Telehealth Nurse works within a team and is integral to ensuring cultural integrity and high standards of clinical care with support from senior nursing and general practitioners. The Telehealth Nurse works rostered shifts 7 days per week (1700hrs – 0100hrs).
This role requires excellent communication skills and clinical judgement to assess client’s needs accurately over the phone and to provide medical advice that is appropriate to their context. Referral to the local clinic team will be required on occasions either immediately in an emergency or the following morning.
The position sits within remote services and works with a team including a GP, Remote Area Nurses, Clinic Managers, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and MrACC.
