Description:

The successful candidate will independently solve complex technical problems regarding equipment, instrumentation, computer related issues and procedures without clinical supervision. Aditionally, you will provide well-developed support and advice relating to Haematology and advanced support and advice relating to Transfusion Science practice to clinicians and peers in accordance with professional and ethical standards.
Key competencies (role specific criteria)

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following:

  • Demonstrated ability to apply advanced scientific judgement within the laboratory multidiscipline service.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide complex advice to laboratory staff and District Health Service clients on a broad range of issues pertaining to the laboratory work unit and/or discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide scientific services of a complex nature to ensure the maintenance of professional clinical standards and established principles / procedures.
  • Demonstrated high level of knowledge, expertise and skill in the management of the laboratory issues in line with the strategic direction of the laboratory.

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification relevant to the profession.

Vaccine Preventable Diseases (VPD) requirements

  • It will be a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against one or more of the following vaccine preventable diseases during their employment: Hepatitis A & B, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis, Rubella and Varicella.
  • Additional vaccinations including Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies may also be required for this position.
