SUMMARY

The Michigan Farmworker Project in the Department of Epidemiology (School of Public Health) is looking for a research analyst to help assist with the management and analysis of research data. Data for this study comes from 2 sources: (1) the National Agricultural Worker Survey (NAWS), a complex sample survey that collects employment and sociodemographic data of migrant and seasonal farmworkers across the US; and (2) Heat data from publicly available meteorological data: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration?s Climate Prediction Center?s.
The general study aim is to conduct a trend analysis to assess changes in heat trends and chronic disease over the years. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Lisbeth Iglesias.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*

  • Master?s degree in Statistics (preferred) or Epidemiology
  • Experience working with complex survey data and with a high proficiency in statistics (2 years or more preferred)
  • Experience using SAS or R software (2 or more years): skills in programming and data management and statistical analysis are essential
  • Experience with Principal Component Analyses or understanding of the analytical process and SAS/R code
  • Experience working with meteorological data and being able to create heat maps (preferred)
  • Experience manipulating data in excel for analysis
  • Being able to work independently with initiative, professionalism and respect
  • Have excellent organizational and communication skills
  • This project involves a quick turn around with deliverables every week

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for data management and data analysis, preparation of results table and interpretation to support the publication of manuscripts
  • Being efficient and organized when writing code for analysis
  • Individuals need to provide deliverables every week (Monday)
  • Be proficient in in SAS for data management and analysis. Be comfortable using complex survey data and secondary data
  • Be proficient in ArcGIS or any other visualization tool to create heat maps and correlate health related outcomes. Example: https://ephtracking.cdc.gov/Applications/heatTracker/
  • Summarize and keep detailed notes of analytical process
  • Attend meetings
