WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for a Temporary Teaching Assistant to compliment our team!
Reporting to the Program Supervisor, the Teacher Assistant is responsible for assisting the child care centre as directed.
This position will be at our Sir Wilfrid Laurier Centre for 33.75 hours weekly, Monday to Friday, 10:00AM to 5:15 PM until July 26, 2024, with possibility of extension.
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum Secondary School diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1-year experience working directly with children OR Related experience in a childcare setting, working with school age children is preferred
Education: Diploma in Early Childhood Education OR diploma in a related field is a definite asset
Responsibilities:
You will be responsible for the ongoing operation of a high-quality childcare centre for children infant to 12 years of age.
The successful candidate will:
- Work in consultation with other staff to provide age-appropriate development programs to enhance the individual and group’s cognitive, physical, social, cultural and emotional development
- Supervise children at times and ensuring their safety by recognizing potentially hazardous situations so that they may be prevented
- Conduct consistent behaviour guidance in accordance with the UFCC Behavioural Management Policy, while recognizing the individual nature of each child
- Clean food service area, disinfect tables, sweep floors and organize food carts after use
- Collect, wash, dry and fold laundry as needed
