Hexagon Purus Systems Canada Ltd. is currently seeking a Test & Validation Engineer to work out of our Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada office. If you are looking to work for an organization that values sustainability and is working towards Clean Air Everywhere, then we are the place for you.
Reporting to the Laboratory Test & Validation manager, you will prepare test plans and execute test reports of mechanical/ electrical components, assemblies, and zero-emission vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in an engineering field
  • Completed Mechatronics, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or similar
  • Proficient skills with Pro Engineer, Creo, Catia, SolidWorks or an equivalent 3D modelling software
  • Proficient with data collection software, hardware, and theory, including MATLAB, Simulink, SoMat, NI
  • Understanding of basic statistics required for developing statistically significant experiments
  • Knowledge of Electric Vehicle systems is an asset
  • Experience with electronics tools such as multimeters, soldering iron, oscilloscope, etc
  • Experience with measurement instrumentation sensors (accelerometers, pressure sensors, flowmeters & temperature sensors etc.)
  • Familiarity with serial communication protocols (RS232, CAN, etc.)
  • Familiarity with data acquisition systems and interfacing with analog and digital sensors
  • Self-starter with the ability to work alone on projects
  • Detail oriented with superior analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Microsoft Office software skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Ability to handle multiple jobs and adapt to a rapidly changing work environment with fluctuating priorities
  • Valid Canadian driver’s license with eligibility for air brake endorsement
  • Valid passport with the ability to travel to the USA
    In accordance with the Pay Transparency Act of British Columbia, we anticipate this position will pay a salary range of:
    $60,000 - $90,000/yr CAD
    The compensation posted is a guide and may not represent the final amount offered to a candidate. Compensation will be based on candidate skills, qualifications, and overall experience level.
    Compensation at Hexagon Purus includes base salary, comprehensive benefits package, variable annual bonus, and 6% RRSP match.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares and assembles test articles and instrumentation for required testing.
  • Collects and analyzes test data and documents test results.
  • Prepares reports summarizing results to provide insight to the design team
  • Uses drafting and mechanical drawings skills and knowledge of computer-assisted drafting CAD equipment and software to create 3D design models and associated 2D drawings for test fixtures
  • Compiles data, computes quantities, determines materials needed, and prepares cost estimates
  • Produces detailed technical drawings for mechanical and electrical assemblies and components
  • Establishes and maintains consistent, high-quality, and accurate information required to be shown on design drawings
  • Presents project updates to colleagues and makes recommendations based on findings
  • Participates in the development and assembly of prototype systems
  • Research, select and purchase test equipment based on project requirements
  • Participate in investigations to find the root cause of field issues
  • Works effectively with others in a collaborative team environment under ambivalent circumstances to resolve issues that require innovative and unique approaches
