Description:

SUMMARY:

The individual in this role tests and verifies various optical systems or optical modules. This individual will work with design engineers and end users to come up with well-defined test criteria and procedures as well. The individual in this role owns their project progress against department and company goals and may also mentor colleagues on several such projects.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ working as a Test Engineer.
  • Knowledge of fundamental Electrical, Mechanical, Optics concepts.
  • Experience with hardware debugging and building free-space optics.
  • Experience programming lab equipment using SCPI, LabView.
  • Experience with CAD tools.
  • Hands-on laboratory skills, including the capability of handling a variety of free-space optics and fiber optics, laser operation, optical modulators, spatial light modulators, as well as basic knowledge of machining and electrical circuits.
  • Excellent documentation skills including MS Word, PowerPoint,etc.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain test procedures and measurement data.
  • The individual in this role has a deep interest in developing and commercializing quantum technologies and is a self-starter with previous experience working in a highly collaborative work environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Support progress towards defining verification specs of various existing optical subsystems or modules.
  • Set up and maintain various test stations.
  • Generate test reports to properly document every subsystem.
  • Develop and de-risk critical optical components to enable next generation QPU.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
