The Theatre & Precinct Systems Engineer is responsible for maintaining theatre and guided tours technology systems, and is an escalation point for the Service Technician roles for repairs and maintenance. This position is also responsible for the developing technical solutions for key Sydney Opera House initiatives including the Digital Education program, and live streamed performances. This position also works with internal and external stakeholders to architect and deliver technical requirements for performances, and performs video engineer duties in the recording & broadcast studio.

Key Responsibilities/skills:
- At least five years’ experience in the live theatre and entertainment industry
- A working knowledge of IP networking, including the TCP/IP model and VLANs
- Technical expertise in automation, communications systems, theatre technology, and building management systems
- Good working knowledge of GPIO logic, AV, intercoms, lighting fixtures, sound equipment, and component electronics
- Comprehensive skills and experience in the production or broadcast industries with an emphasis on web streaming, video conferencing, telepresence technologies, IP codecs, streaming principles, and multimedia compression/container formats
- Working knowledge of encoding, transcoding, editing, transporting, streaming/ archiving audio and video
- Advanced communication skills, including an ability to translate technical concepts for a lay audience.
